Cam Green - Head Coach
The Mustangs are excited to introduce Coach Cam Green as the new head coach of Mira Costa Girls Volleyball. As a player at Mira Costa in his sophomore season, Green was a member of the undefeated CIF champion team in 1990. In 1991 Coach Green brought home a gold medal as the starting outside hitter on the USA Junior National Team and in 1992 he was named Mira Costa MVP, Ocean League MVP, first team all CIF and was listed on the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50. After high school Coach Green went on to play D1 volleyball at Cal State Northridge where he helped lead his team to an MPSF championship and an appearance in the NCAA finals in 1993. With 24 years of experience Green has coached all levels of volleyball from boys and girls club and high school, AVP teams both women and men and NCAA D1 Men’s volleyball. In his club career, he has been the head coach for 3 national champions bringing home gold medals in 2002, 2005 and 2012…13 open, 16open and 17open respectively. In addition, Green was the head coach for a Girls Festival 14 open gold medal team in 2012, a Junior Olympic silver medal team open division in 2003 and 2 bronze medal open division teams in 2008 and 2009. Coach Green also spent 7 years as a fulltime coach traveling domestically and internationally on the AVP/FIVB coaching Nancy (Mason) Reynolds, Carrie (Busch) Dodd, silver medalist Jen Kessy, Rachel Wacholder and Tyra Turner along with the Canadian team of Liz Maloney and current Olympian Heather Bansley and most recently Madison and Riley McKibbin. From 2009-2017 Green was a D1 men’s volleyball assistant coach spending 7 seasons with USC and 2 with Long Beach State. During that span, he coached in 2 NCAA national championship games and 5 final fours. Coach Green is a true student of the game and will bring innovative style and the newest technique as well as a soulful approach to the adapting and ever-changing needs of our athletes today.
Nancy Mason - Varsity Assistant
We are excited to have Nancy and her experience back to the Mustang coaching staff. Nancy previously spent 5 years as an assistant and helped guide the Mustangs to the CIF and National Championships in 2007. In 2011 she led her Sunshine Volleyball Club team to a silver medal at Junior Nationals. Nancy has coached numerous AVP and FIVB top teams/players, including 2-time Olympic medalist April Ross, Olympian-Nicole Branagh, Angie Akers, Whitney Pavlik, Jenny Kropp, Geena Urango and Angela Bensed. Prior to coaching, Nancy enjoyed a long and accomplished career on the AVP and FIVB Tours where she piled up over 30 top four finishes and several international medals. Nancy and Carrie Dodd were the alternates for the 2004 USA Olympic Team. Before her beach career, Nancy was a four-year starter at Indiana University where she was an All -Big Ten Scholar-Athlete and is still among the career leaders in digs and blocks. Nancy played for Belleville West High School and appeared in the State Finals every year of her varsity career. Nancy is married and lives with her husband, Brett and their son, Henry in Hermosa Beach.
Nicole Roueche – JV Coach
Coach Nicole Roueche is from Fort Wayne, IN and played her 5 year college career (‘99-‘03) at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). As a walk on freshman at IPFW she took a red-shirt year then in subsequent years worked her way into being a scholarship player. She began as a defensive specialist and transitioned to libero when that rule change went into effect in 2002. While at IPFW, Nicole was an integral part of the volleyball program when they transitioned from Div. II to a Div. I competitor. In 2002, as a captain of the team, she helped lead them to a Division I Independent Tournament Championship. After her college career she moved to Hermosa Beach and went on to coach club at many different levels throughout the years. More exciting than any player/coach accolades though, Coach Nicole is a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She has developed a Wellness Program that will help the players learn about and focus on some of the non-physical aspects that are important to high level performance such as sleep, nutrition, mindfulness/breath awareness, self-compassion and growth mindset. Coach Nicole will help guide and empower each of the players to develop healthy practices that will benefit them on and off the court.
Ian Satterfield - Frosh/Soph Coach and Varsity Assistant
We are happy to welcome coach Ian Satterfield back for his second year on the Mira Costa Girls Volleyball coaching staff. Satterfield was a two-time 1st Team All CIF outside hitter and opposite for Mira Costa. During Ian’s time on varsity, his teams won the Bay League, the Best of the West Tournament, the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, and the Costa-Redondo Varsity Classic. They also made back-to-back CIF Finals appearances and won a Southern Section Division I title for the Mustangs in 2008. Satterfield was named Daily Breeze Boys Volleyball Player of the Year, Bay League MVP, and Best of the West Tournament MVP. He continued his volleyball career playing opposite at Long Beach State under Olympic coaches Alan Knipe and Tyler Hildebrand. Ian made the transition from playing indoor to beach after college. He represented Team USA in the 2015 Pan American Games. Satterfield has also competed in events around the world on the FIVB, AVP, New Zealand, Australia, and NORCECA professional beach volleyball tours. Ian earned gold medals at the indoor Junior Olympics both as an athlete and as a coach. He has run USA High Performance volleyball camps at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista and is currently an assistant coach for the USA Beach Volleyball Men’s and Women’s National Teams. He combines his passion and knowledge of the game to create a young and progressive style of coaching for the Mira Costa Volleyball Program.
Darryl Gan – Varsity Volunteer Assistant
Noted as a prominent coach and key figure of club volleyball, Darryl brings his expertise and love of the game to SCVC having coached the girls and boys at Corona del Mar Middle School, Calvary Chapel High School, Costa Mesa girls varsity and Mater Dei High School Girls Varsity, all in the early to mid 90's. With great volleyball tradition in his family, a unique ability to connect and inspire his players, Darryl's over 30 years of experience along with his tremendous knowledge of the game have contributed to his successes over the years. Darryl graduated from Newport Harbor High School, where he played volleyball and soccer. Graduated from USC with a Political Science degree and also played on the USC Men's Club team. He brings with him a history of dedication and resolve to achieve at the highest degree.
Besides his volleyball career, Darryl is the owner/operator of 1-800 Dry Clean, a local full service dry cleaning pick up and delivery business. Darryl is married to Cristina, a schoolteacher and second-generation MCHS graduate. Together, Darryl and Cristina are raising two young sons Liam (7) and Declan (3).

Tim Cooper - Trainer
Tim returns to Mira Costa for his twenty-ninth year as Head trainer for all sports. Tim is at every home game and at practices, ready to assist the athletes in any way needed. He provides the best in healthcare and injury rehabilitation, and is loyal to each team as well as each coach. Tim has a great attitude and is the consummate professional. He is a friend, a sports psychologist, and a strength coach, to our athletes, and his expertise is greatly needed. All of the girls' on the volleyball team find Tim to be a true inspiration, and the seniors will greatly miss his summer pool workouts and conditioning. When not assisting our athletes, Tim trains professional beach volleyball players in plyos and beach drills. His clients include: Olympic Gold medalist Eric Fonoimoana, Jeff Nygard, Fred Souza, Adam Jewell, Albert Hannemann, John Mayer, Anthony Medel and Jeff Carucci. Tim’s knowledge of sports medicine has been instrumental in keeping our teams healthy and successful, and we thank him.
